The Ride

Ride Format: Each day, the ride will start and end at our BASC Basecamp. 3-Day, 2-Day, and 1-Day ride options are available. We operate on a hub and spoke model, meaning each day you will ride a unique route out from our Basecamp and back to your campsite - no moving campsites each night!

Routes: Participants can expect 3 days of moderately challenging terrain ranging from gravel, pavement, chip, seal, and maybe even a little dirt. With the varied terrain, our routes are friendly for the majority of types of bikes including gravel, cross, road, and mountain bikes. All routes can be viewed through RidewithGPS. *Please be aware that these routes can change as we get closer to the event* We recommend anything you are comfortable riding the long or short routes with on various terrain. Expect different routes each day highlighting the unique scenery surrounding our basecamp!

  • Long Route: 50-60 miles per day
  • Short Route: 20-30 miles per day

Rest Stops: Rest stops will be placed along each bike course. Locations will be stocked with water and an electrolyte-type drink, along with appropriate cycling snacks. If you require specific food or beverage, please plan to bring this with you on your ride!

Best Bike Options: Given the gravel, pavement, chip, seal, dirt, and road terrain, BASC can be accomplished on almost any kind of bicycle! We recommend gravel, cross, BMX, and even road bikes with wider tires, preferably 28mm or greater. Bicycles that have wider, knobby-type tires will roll over the gravel/dirt roads with greater ease. The bike you bring is totally up to you, but please ensure you are comfortable traversing gravel, pavement, chip, seal, and road terrains.

  • E-Bikes are welcome – please follow the recommendations above regarding bike types. You will be responsible for charging your bike throughout the weekend. At this time, access to charging stations is not confirmed so please plan accordingly. We will post updates here asap.
  • Please do not plan on riding a triathlon, beach cruiser, or any bicycle with skinny tires and no tread.  We also do not recommend single-speed bicycles, but rather bikes with gears.
  • Helmets are required.

Mechanical Support: While we will have support vehicles on each bike route, that can assist in changing a flat or perhaps a minor mechanical issue, it is strongly suggested you bring the necessary tubes, tools, and supplies you need for your specific bike type.  The event may not have the items you require at the time to service your bike.

Children: These routes are not recommended for children 14 and under. If you are unsure whether these routes are right for your child, please email us at BASC@postandcourier.com. Anyone ages 14-17 can register as a "Child Rider". Want to bring your child but don't want them to ride? Register them as either a child non-rider or non-rider. Ages 12 under qualify as child non-riders, whereas anyone 13 to 17 at the time of the ride should be registered as a general non-rider.
