Meet Stephen Lalla!
Stephen is from Hendersonville, NC and has participated in multiple BASC rides with his wife.
Here are a few tips from him:
What initially drew you to participate in Bicycle Across South Carolina?
It seemed like a fun, do-able challenge.
What are some of your favorite aspects of the event?
The all-inclusive pricing is great. We don’t have to worry about food, entertainment, drink, snacks, and on-the-road support.
How would you describe the atmosphere and community among the riders during the event?
Everyone is awesome, but the staff always exceeds my expectations.
What are some things you like about our Basecamp set-up?
Basecamp is always well organized and staff are always available for any queries.
Can you share a memorable moment or experience from one of the bike routes?
Day 1 – My wife and I riding to the finish, holding hands as we crossed.
How has participating in Bicycle Across South Carolina impacted you personally, whether in terms of fitness, friendships, or memorable experiences?
We had so much fun the last 2 years, we invited another couple to join us this year.
Would you recommend Bicycle Across South Carolina to others considering participating in similar events? If so, why?
Yes, it is non-competitive and a fun way to see a part of SC that you may not normally see.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or any advice you have for first-time participants?
I continue to be truly thankful to the staff as I know the countless hours it takes to coordinate the event, and then actually being on site to run it and pivot if there is a last minute course change.
